An Ogden Valley Wedding

I was able to photograph the most wonderful wedding this summer.
I love my beautiful valley and when some dear clients from Texas contacted me to photograph their destination wedding I was thrilled!
We went on a horse-drawn-carriage ride provided by the Bailey family, past their herds of caribou and elk, to a beautiful location on their property.  No decorations were needed as the entire mountain was the backdrop and the wildflowers provided a pop of color.

285 After the ceremony the guests spent time taking photographs then returned in the carriages to the reception at Wolf Creek.  They were treated to wonderful music and a delicious dutch oven dinner.294 296 301309279Simple, elegant, and absolutely stunning.  Filled with friends, family, and laughter.  It was an exquisite day!

Yours, Mine, and Ours.

037 I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph a ring ceremony a couple weeks ago for a blended family.  Kind of like the Brady Bunch but with more kids! 046 It was such a lovely evening.  The weather was perfect, the light golden, and the atmosphere chock full of love and happiness.066 They kept everything light and casual.  They didn’t want the focus to be on a “day” but a celebration of their lives up to that point, coming together, and moving into the future,075 Each of the nine kids decorated their own cake.  It was so fun to see the creativity and different personalities shining through…really tasty cake as well. 😉 101 This was a quiet moment for the bride and groom that I snuck up on.  Unposed, genuine moments are my favorite.151 This couple is so loving.  While they were dating they would text each other song lyrics that they felt pertained to their relationship or how they were feeling at any particular time.  Here we listened to a song the bride felt represented their relationship moving forward while the groom read the words.  It gives me chills right now remembering how beautiful this moment was.177There is no feeling of “mine” and “your” kids with this couple.  The kids are “our” kids.  I was so impressed by that.  By how comfortable the kids were with either parent and each other.
232The more weddings I photograph, the more I love the casual relaxed days that are more a celebration of love than a big production.
242 My face hurt from laughing.  This family is going to have a lot of fun together.246Sometimes you just have to grab your man and kiss him! Love this! 🙂

A Disney Color Scheme Wedding :)

I loved this wedding SO much!  I have photographed this gorgeous bride…hang on I’m thinking…seven times?  I may be missing one.  She is a delight to work with and her family is a delight to work with.  Shooting this wedding was just like hanging out with old friends, okay it was hanging out with old friends.  Plus it was at the Union Station, which is one of my favorites venues, and they have a great sense of style so everything was fun and unique, and fantastic.   They decorated in my most favoritest of colors, and there was a subtle Disney feel which I adore AND there were POLKA DOTS which are basically my favorite things in the universe.  Aren’t polka dots just happy?  How can you be grumpy with polka dots, I ask you?  I was basically in photographer heaven.  It was also so nice to get back behind my camera.  I’ve been immersed in school this year and as much as I love and adore theatre (so much I don’t have words for it), I communicate in pictures, it’s just who I am, so this was coming home for me.  Anyway, here is Kenzie and Riley’s wedding album (designing these is my absolute favorite part of a wedding).  Enjoy! 🙂

Union Station Bridals. Riley and Kenzie

I love Historic 25th Street and the Union Station in Ogden.  I’m not exactly sure why.  It could be because I am passionate about stories and storytelling in all its forms.  I love hearing about how it was illegal to carry a violin case on the street until surprisingly recently because gangsters used to use them to conceal weapons.  I love the historic feel and eclectic look.  There’s also that element of a journey to train stations.  Goings and comings, exciting adventures, change, growth, exploration.

I was so excited when my last bride told me she was going to have her wedding reception at the Union Station and that she wanted to do her Engagements and Bridals there as well.  The location and the couple and the color scheme…I was in heaven.  Some times you just need events like those.  Pure bliss!  It reminds you why you do what you do in the first place.

So here are a few of my favorites  from the Bridals, or as I call them, the Couple Pre-Session, because the groom came along as well.  I think this is so smart.  It gives you less stress for the day of the wedding and we have more time to play and usually much better lighting.  Stay tuned for their wedding storyline album!  🙂

p.s. This last one is my very most favoritest.  🙂

McKenzie & Riley’s Guest Book

McKenzie and Riley were married last Friday, March 7, 2014.  It was a beautiful, perfect spring day.  I’m so excited that they are married so I can post pictures, I didn’t want to ruin any surprises!  This is the guest album for their reception.  It’s my favorite album that I’ve ever done.  I love the color scheme (red, white, and black are my favorite colors), the subtle Disney influence, the quotes, and of course polka dots!  Bridals will be coming soon! 🙂

Joe & Sarah

This is the wedding album of my beautiful good friend Sarah.  It was such a joy to be a part of her special day.  The wedding took place in October and the weather was a miraculously good sandwiched between cold and rainy.  Sarah had angels looking out for her and she deserved it!  Days like these are why I do what I do and why I love it!

Patience is not my greatest virtue!

Y’know the part on Serenity where Mal is asked what his greatest vice is and he replies “Ah Hell… I’m a fan of all seven. But right now… I’m gonna have to go with wrath.”  Well, I probably have to go with impatience.  Like right now I have these awesome engagements and I get to design the guest sign-in book with a red, white & black color scheme and I can’t post it until MARCH!!!  Oh the humanity!  Side note there’s an awesome meme with that quote and a “hued” manatee that I saw yesterday that made me laugh uproariously, you should check it out.  AND then you have to add “Je suis manatee” which whoever gets that quote gets mental chocolate, confetti, and a gold star.  But I digress…

See this gorgeous girl?037Her name is Kenzie, she’s stunning, and her fiancé is a sweetheart and a cutie as well.  If you look at my blog header image you’ll see a beautiful hula girl, this is her!  If I’m counting correctly I believe this is our fifth shoot together.  I’ve said it before and I shall say it again, the best part of my job is not only to share the wonderful moments in people’s lives but to share them and build a relationship through the years.  I truly have a charmed life and not only am I aware of it but I treasure it greatly.

059Kenzie and Riley, I am honored beyond words to get to be part of your special day (and not just ’cause I absolutely love your ideas and color scheme – that’s just the confetti on the cupcake).  Thank you, thank you, thank you for a wonderful day and I am SO excited for the next two coming up …. relatively soon. 😉

020p.s.  Thanks for running out into the middle of the street…oh how we suffer for our art! 🙂

Here is a link to more of their images on my facebook business page.  Enjoy!
