Headshots Galore!!

I absolutely love taking headshots, they’re one of my most favoritest things to photograph and I have been lucky (and blessed) to be able to take TONS of headshots this summer.  Here are just a few {always leave them wanting more :)}, and they happen to be extra special people in my life.

I definitely have a particular style to headshots, I’m SUPER picky about them and how I think they should be done and presented.  However, to each their own, which is the wonderful thing about a world full of diversity!

Happy Monday everyone!

Emergency Headshot

Now as a general rule, one doesn’t think of a headshot as an emergency item but this gentleman won a region wide drama competition and was off to N.Y.C. to compete in nationals. He needed a headshot and he needed one fast.  I was so glad that I was able to help such a great guy. 🙂

Techies Need Headshots Too

This gentleman is just good people.  He is one of the kindest individuals I know and it was a privilege  to take his head shots.  He is also interested in photography which made it extra fun because he doesn’t mind at all when I’m a total photo geek.  This was a lovely day.  Thank you friend!

Even though it rained on us…

002BW‘Tis the time for actor headshots.  Fa-la-la-la-la…
Just kidding.  I’m in a weird mood where I randomly break out into song. 🙂

This is my friend Colton and he is fun to work with.  Extremely creative, like, oodles of creativity just oozing everywhere.  One of those people who would really annoy you with their brilliance if they weren’t so nice.

He needed new headshots plus some press kit images for “just in case” and for fun.
We shot into the darkling hours of the night and even had to take shelter as a storm breezed through.

It was fun.

053This image is kinda my favorite. 🙂

I’m so in love with her hair!

02BW_8X10 This is Betsy and she is one of the coolest, nicest, most amazing people in the world.  You know those people who you just think, Wow, I want to be like them when I grow up?  Yep, that’s Betsy.  I told her that and she just laughed and said that she hadn’t grown up yet.

Here’s the story of how I met Betsy.  I had seen her around because we both have church in the same building and I had of course noticed her because of her fantastic hair (I love it so much).  But the first time I really truly met Betsy and her husband was on a very foggy Sunday morning.  I was driving to church with my family when suddenly the car in front of us swerved across the oncoming lane of traffic and tipped onto its side in a cold, icy ditch.  It was so surreal, I still have no idea why it happened and I don’t remember that the people ever gave a reason.  Betsy and her husband have both been involved in the military and they were the epitome of calm take charge, get it done.  Her husband made sure they were ok, told them to turn off the car and waded into the ditch to help pull them out.  My husband must have helped too but all I remember is standing there thinking “Wow!”.  Luckily no one was hurt.

Of course that has nothing to do with headshots, but I love a good story.  Betsy wanted to update her Linkedin profile and I was thrilled to get the chance to work with her.  She is absolutely gorgeous, inside and out, and I love, love, love her hair!!

School Break Photo Special

I’ve been neglecting my camera while in school this summer, and since my photography is how I communicate with the world, I’ve been feeling like something has died.

So, I decided to have a special during the break before fall semester starts. The details are in the photo below.  Please call or email me if you have any questions.  I try to make everything really simple, but simple in my head doesn’t necessarily mean simple to others…isn’t that weird?

Here’s a link to some location ideas that I’ve put together, but there are lots more possibilities and I’m willing to go anywhere in the Valley or the nearby Ogden/Morgan/North Ogden area. 🙂

More Fun than I Used to Think

This handsome gent is my brother Ben.  He’s a snazzy writer for the Deseret News {Education beat}  and needed an updated headshot.  There are more on my facebook business page. Headshots

It’s hard to chose a favorite but I’m a sucker for black and white.  Also a tip:  some social media have your profile image be square so it’s always good to shoot a few with that in mind.  The last one I posted on my page of Ben is in square format.  I especially like that one.

01_BW8X10I used to think studio style headshots were kinda boring but now they are one of my most favorite sessions.  Why?  I have no idea.  Some theories?  Well, without backgrounds to worry about the focus is completely on the person and their personality.  I like that.  I like focusing on the eyes, it’s all about the eyes.  I’m a sucker for clean simplicity.  It’s a collaboration, which is fun.  I go back and forth from shooting to showing the person their images on the back of my camera and we work together with what they like and what makes them feel like the images are really “them”.  We also usually have a fun chat session.  It’s fun to go to plays, look at the program and “Hey, I took that one…and that one…and that one…”

I like headshots.

Just fyi for my theatre/film friends.  I’m going to be doing my headshot special again in March.  I’ll remind you all as it gets closer.  Oh, and everyone is invited! 🙂
