Family Pix with a Cartoon Twist

45BW I met Joe while performing in The Scarlet Pimpernel  at CenterPoint Legacy Theatre last summer.  I was so so excited when he called me about doing his family/engagement images.  He is engaged to the lovely Melissa and between them they have seven kids!  They are all fun and love to goof and play so they chose a cartoon shirt theme for their images.  How cute is that?54It was so hard to pick my favorites for this post, here is a link to a few more on Facebook.

Forinash Family

{I just figured out how to link without the ginormous facebook URL, yay me!}

Hahahahahaha…this just makes me giggle, and no I did not direct it. 🙂

Do you see the lovely image of the family on some rustic wooden steps?  No?  That’s because there was a hornets nest, which led to much running and screaming…just like a cartoon.  Now all we need is an anvil!

Photography, Zombies, Feminism, oh my!

09_05_2011 SanFranThis photo doesn’t really have anything to do with anything other than it reminds me of trying something new.  By the way, it’s early a.m. San Francisco if anyone cares.

My brain sometimes feels like a bag of cats with stories, and pictures, and scenes, all whirling around like mad.  I’ve been thinking, for longer than care to admit, that I should try to write some of it out.  Might make things more peaceful…and awhile ago I did start a screenplay but threw the whole out, long story.

Anyway, I’m back in school and minoring in English Ed, so I HAD to choose a writing class.  I picked magazine article writing because it’s something I’ve wanted to do for ages, but just never manned up.  Before class started I had a sentence pop into my head and  basically train of thought wrote my entire article while getting ready for something or other.  Fast forward to class where we’re told that some such famous writer says that if you can just get your first sentence down the rest will write itself.  And that did work with my second article.  I’m sending it in today and I’m so in love with it I can hardly wait.  I should sidenote at this point  that my first article was on how to take headshots, specifically for actors and I found out on Friday that Professional Photographer magazine is going to publish it.  So excited!

But today I finish up and send in Article 2.  It’s on zombies and feminism, and I had so much fun writing it.    We’ll see what happens.

Oh, and that first sentence test? Well, it worked for the article, so now I’m trying it out on a book.  Why not?  I’m not afraid of rejection, what’s the worst that can happen?  Besides, it really is fun trying something new.
